For over 12 years I have been making dolls and toys. It came from a very deep place inside me where I did not want my kids playing with dolls that were mass manufactured by slave or low paid labor. I did not want to wonder what toxic elements were part of this. What was in the stuffing? In addition, these toys were not made with love, which I felt was very important to me. It was the message that these dolls carry. I have never materialized this business in more than selling a few dolls here and there to my friends and a few shops. I think it always has been hard for me to recognize any value in my making since there is so much available in the marketplace. Since I cannot recognize it, I feel that nobody else can. So here is a sample from my makings. Over the years it moved mostly into accessories for the dolls. They all are made from used fabrics that I collect. It gives the old, outgrown clothing a second chance at life. It makes me so happy to know that the clothing continues to be loved.
I am so grateful to my husband, Jeffrey for taking these photos while I styled the dolls. He is the one who encourages me to continue 'making' and the one who believes in my skills and talents. I am a different person because of him.
