My first goal
Yesterday, I was reminded how much I value the chronological aspect, which I built within my private facebook page. When I first stumbled upon Facebook it was a place for social interaction; to keep in touch with my friends and family who in my case are scattered across the world. It was shortly after my wonderful account with Multiply, where I initially started to blog was erased due to site going in a different direction. It was a place for me to share my thoughts and experiences about motherhood, the recipes I gathered, pictures of our adventure etc... poof... all gone in a blink of an eye. Now I have a similar feeling about Facebook. I feel the social, communal aspect of my online being was hijacked by various real and fake news outlets, inspirational quotes, business promotions and various groups that keep loosing strength and focus due to sheer volume. I am deciding 2019 will be probably my last year on Facebook.
Today I want to remind myself of the wonderful time I spent with my children three years ago making clothes pin dolls. I was inspired by a Creativebug class and took it in a different direction since my youngest, George did not want to participate in clothing the dolls but rather just painting them with markers. It was February 5, 2016 and PBS was airing the final season of Downton Abbey. It was also around the time I finally got my hands on 'The New Bohemians' book of cool and collected homes by Justina Blakeney. The inside of her book sleeve served as the background and prop for my clothes pin dolls.
This brings me great joy to share because it unfolded at a very specific time of my life. It correlated with my first full contemplation of starting my tiny interior decorating business. It was a spark then that was initiated by my husband who asked me, "What would you want to be if nobody would tell you what to be?" Today that business is a reality, a very slow going but reality non-the-less.
